Feeding the Five Thousand in Southsea
On Saturday September 7th Southsea Christians co-ordinated by our friends at St Jude’s Church are running a family fun day on Castle Field. There will be 5,000 fish baps to hand out as well as cartoon stories of the miracle and lots of activities for all the family. It’s a large, well organised and funded event to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the community. You can get a sense of what it might be like at https://www.biblesociety.org.uk/latest/news/feeding-5000-in-hull/
There are many volunteers from several churches already but we’re asked if there are Methodists who could volunteer on four teams in particular:
1. The Kid’s Zone – children’s activities including face painting.
2. Help setting up and packing away the tents and equipment at the start and end of the day.
3. The Support team – stewarding and the like
4. The Engage Team – handing out leaflets and talking with people who have come to see what the fuss is all about.
It would be great if we could have at least nine or ten people from across the church to be part of this initiative. Please contact John if you are interested. There will be a training evening on Thursday September 5th at St Jude’s for volunteers.
Even if you don’t feel able to volunteer do please come along to the event if you can. Let’s recreate the miracle!
